This is where the staff and bingo online caller were and in the middle were tables of prizes. There were stuffed animals and toys, kitchen ware, small appliances, house wares and various other prizes. People would sit on the benches and play deww bingo. As they played, the prize tables were right in front of them. People bought the tickets for each game. There were containers full of beans on the table for people to use. They covered the numbers on their cards with beans. When they won enough games and accumulated enough points they would pick out the prize that they wanted. This was in the 1950s.

Bingo in the United States is not played commercially, unless it is in Las Vegas, Atlantic City or on the Indian tribal lands. Before Atlantic City and the tribal casinos, free bingo used to be played at carnivals. Most carnivals were held as fundraisers for churches and other organizations. Amidst all of the rides and ticket booths, there would be a long rectangular area with benches around the outside. The area had a canvas roof over the top. This was the bingo games. The benches and long tables made the perimeter of the rectangle. The inside of the rectangle was hollow.

The game of bingo is still played the same, but now we use magnetized chips with magnetic wands to remove the chips after each game. We use daubers for the one-time use cards and the coveralls. Or better yet, we hop online and play.
